Theory of Change

Based on the concept of economy-wide interdependence, the AIP will - through the programme components on SDG 6 investments; Resilience; Project Preparation and Financing; and Water Governance-revitalise ongoing activities of the water community in Africa to realise the Africa Water Vision 2025 and consolidate the achievements to-date of those interventions. By way of contributing to processes to deepen the impact of those efforts, the AIP will - through the programme components on Valuing Water; and Catalysing Change - focus its activities on responding to the three generally accepted bottlenecks in the delivery of the infrastructure needed to underpin economic growth and transformation in Africa, namely:

GWP Steering Committee – Taking Stock Globally

In our interview series marking GWP 20 Years, we talk to GWP Steering Committee (SC) member Dr. Gunilla Björklund. Her ties to the network run back all the way to its founding days, and over the years she has been involved in GWP project evaluations as a consult. She says the main challenge as a SC member is to have a global overview while still maintaining an understanding of the details.

Mali CWP holds extraordinary partners’ meeting

The Country Water Partnership (CWP) of Mali held an extraordinary meeting of its partners on 27 January 2018 to review its basic texts (Statutes and regulations). The main changes are that the permanent secretary who was elected is now giving place to a recruited Executive secretary and is heading a secretariat that may include recruited personnel for projects and programmes.

#TonFuturTonClimat kick-off meeting of the initiative in Ouagadougou

The TonFuturTonClimat initiative is the result of a GWP-WA and the International Secretariat of Water (ISW) response to the November 2016 call of proposal of the International Climate Cooperation Program (ICCP) funded by the Government of Quebec's Green Fund. The ICCP aims to contribute to efforts to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and adapt to the impacts of climate change (CC) in the most vulnerable French-speaking countries.

On the national level, Country Water Partnerships (CWP's) bring Consulting Partners from various sectors – NGOs/CSOs, government agencies, academic and research institutions and the private sector - together to identify common challenges and promote integrated sustainable solutions.

Nature-based solutions for decentralized wastewater treatment in the Lower Danube

GWP Central and Eastern Europe successfully completed a project on innovative wastewater treatment, developed in cooperation with IRIDRA and the Water Science Institute in Slovenia. The project was supported by the EU Joint Research Centre and was implemented in Kamniška Bistrica River Basin Slovenia during the years 2016-2017.
