ASEAN 50 Years Anniversary

The Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) is a sister to the “One Belt One Road” and also to the “south-south in Asia”. The year of 2017 arrives to the 50th year anniversary of ASEAN. On August 2 and 4, 2017, the anniversary was celebrated in Bangkok, Thailand. GWP China Regional Programme Manager & TEC member, Prof Jinjun YOU attended the event in Bangkok.

Coordination and Facilitation (B3)

Coordination and facilitation bodies (CFBs) and instruments play the very important role of articulating and harmonizing the actions and visions of the numerous entities concerned with water management. Whether it is at the international, national, or even regional level, mediators are always needed in dealing with water related issues. Tools under this section can be seen as tying strings for an IWRM strategy and for good water governance to crystalize.

Boosting Governance & Integrity of the water sector in MENA, session organised by GWP-Med during the 2017 Arab Water Week

More than 70 participants attended the session “Water Governance & Integrity under change in the MENA: how to boost up implementation efforts?” that took place on Sunday 19 March 2017, during the Arab Water Week 2017 at the Dead Sea, Jordan. The session was organised by GWP-Med and supported by Sida, through the UfM-labelled project “Governance & Financing for the Mediterranean Water Sector” implemented by GWP-Med and the OECD. It was organised in synergy and close coordination with the “Water Integrity for the MENA” project implemented by the UNDP Water Governance Facility at SIWI.

Stronger together: building content and countries’ trust for the future Mediterranean water agenda

A far-reaching political and technical process towards establishing a joint vision for water security in the Mediterranean towards 2030 and beyond is on-going in the framework of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM). It draws on integrated responses, focusing on the feasible and the tangible. Building trust among countries and stakeholders, it aims at linking capacities and financial resources towards addressing needs. GWP-Med contributes to the UfM process servicing as its technical facilitator.
