PRESS BRIEFING on Wednesday September 8, 2010 at Stockholm World Water Week, Press Room at 13:00 hrs where the Global Water Partnership launches  a report about GWP’s work developing IWRM plans in Africa, “Water Security for Development”.Until the world puts water at the top of the development agenda, efforts to achieve the Millennium Development Goals will falter.

International Scientific Conference “Value of Golden Age Turkmen Lake in improving the ecological status of the region”

Background 

GWP representatives from Stockholm were specially invited to participate through an initiative by our partners of the upcoming Country Water Partnership of Turkmenistan. This event was regarded as a strategic opportunity for introducing how IWRM can be a helpful mechanism in a concrete project.

Ivory Coast

Côte d’Ivoire is situated by the coast of the North Atlantic Ocean, bordering Burkina Faso, Ghana, Mali, Guinea and Liberia. It has a tropical climate along the coast and semiarid in the far north. Its climate can be divided into three seasons: warm and dry (November to March), hot and dry (March to May), hot and wet (June to October). The country is very rich in natural resources and has large reserves of, among others, petroleum, natural gas, diamonds, cobalt, gold, coffee and palm oil.

IWRM for Sustainable Agriculture

‘Closing the Knowledge Gap: Integrated Water Resources Management for Sustainable Agriculture’ was the theme of an  international seminar in Johannesburg, South Africa, November 22-26, 2010, which sought to discuss strategies for developing comprehensive information and knowledge support systems in integrated water management for productive agriculture in Africa, the Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) states.
