Over 80 participants representing African Union Member States and Regional Economic Communities (RECs) have been trained in tracking and reporting water investments using the AIP-PIDA Water Investment Scorecard, a key tool under the African Union’s Africa Water Investment Programme (AIP).
The largest international gathering of water stakeholders, held every three years, the 10th World Water Forum - 'Water for Shared Prosperity' - was held in Bali, Indonesia, from 18 – 25 May, as the culmination of a multi-annual political, thematic and regional preparatory process. It attracted 64,000 participants and visitors from 160 countries.
This event showcases various drought management initiatives across Latin America and the Caribbean. It brings together experts, policy makers, and scientists who will share how droughts impact and manifest themselves in their respective countries and localities.
As part of the WMO's technical assistance to the project to strengthen climate resilience in Burkina Faso (HYDROMET-BF Project), GWP- WA has coordinated the raising of awareness of hydrometeorological risks and impacts at the end of June 2025.

Six African Small Island Developing States (SIDS) have officially launched a USD 9 million project to advance sustainable, inclusive, and climate-resilient blue economies. The initiative was unveiled at a three-day inception workshop held in Mauritius from 4–6 August 2025.
