NAP Regional Training Workshop for African LDCs

The NAP-GSP Project Board-approved NAP-GSP work plan includes a number of Regional Training Workshops on developing frameworks and strategies for NAPs for Least Developed Countries (LDCs) which request support.

NAP-GSP implementing agencies United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and other partners and collaborators (GEF, UNITAR, IFAD, UNFCCC, WHO, GWP, FAO, GIZ), are holding the NAP Regional Training Workshop for African LDCs on 17-20 March 2014 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Burkina Faso: Promises of a Demonstration Project

A team of GWP-WA and CWP Burkina PNE had on June 11, 2015 a visit to assess the level of implementation of work on the site of the WACDEP demonstration project in Burkina Faso. This project involves the drip irrigation techniques for the efficient management of agricultural water for the benefit of vulnerable populations in the municipality of Loumbila in the center of the country.
Since the last visit in April 2015 there has been plowing work, the installation of some drip irrigation and water pumping equipment with solar energy, among others.

6th Partners Meeting: Special session on GWP Waf projects

A special day session was organized on May 5, 2015 just before the Partners meeting held on 7 and 8 May 2015 in Cotonou, Benin. The session aimed at all the representatives of Country Water Partnerships (CWP) invited for the Assembly of Partners but focused mainly on countries where the three projects are being carried out: Benin, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Mali and Niger.

Hygiene Coaches to break continuous transmission of water-related diseases in primary schools in Yaoundé II.

Within the framework of the implementation of the programme for “Water and Youth”, GWP-CAf and its partner Water For Life Cameroon, a youth led-organization held from February 6th - 27th 2016 a series of four traineeship workshops on hygiene coaching  for the primary schools of Yaoundé II.

The traineeship was included in the line of the hygiene promotion project in primary schools entitled “ soap for healthy lives” developed by NGO Water For Life Cameroon.

 

The kick off ceremony was championed by the new GWP-Chair on February 6th, 2016 in Yaoundé, Cameroon. 13 participants, representing 10 youth led-organizations, attended the different training sessions.

 

The workshops centered their deliveries on four main modules like: Water-borne diseases: Transmission, Demonstration and Preventative measures; WASH in schools and rights to water and sanitation; the academic environment and the child psychology finally the class animation techniques.

Four-day Workshop for Operational Staff in the MENA Region concretises Water Integrity action plans

The 2nd Regional Alumni Workshop of the ‘Water Integrity Capacity Building Programme for the MENA Region’ was organised by GWP-Med (8-11 February 2016, Dead Sea, Jordan). Regional alumni workshops aim to lead to the creation of a regional community of practice on water integrity and foster water integrity ambassadors, reinforcing the enabling environment and building synergies in the target countries and the MENA Region at large. The first Regional Alumni Workshop (November 2015, Tunis, Tunisia) targeted alumni from the national civil society workshops, whereas this second one targeted operational/mid-level management staff.

Zimbabwe’s Climate Change Response Strategy Adopted at final consultation meeting

The formulation of Zimbabwe’s National Climate Change Response Strategy (NCCRS) process that began in 2012 finally came to an end on 15th July, 2014 at a multi stakeholder meeting that brought together 62 participants from different Ministries, partner organisations and other relevant departments. A key milestone of this meeting was the adoption of the NCCRS by the Ministry of Environment, Water and Climate.
