The Country Water Partnership (CWP) of Mali held an extraordinary meeting of its partners on 27 January 2018 to review its basic texts (Statutes and regulations). The main changes are that the permanent secretary who was elected is now giving place to a recruited Executive secretary and is heading a secretariat that may include recruited personnel for projects and programmes.
Under the Strategic Goal 2 Generate and Share Knowledge the WACDEP Programme of GWP China Region stresses cross-regional cooperation, network with different provinces, sectors and organizations.
The Joint Support Programme for Integrated Water Resources Management (PCA-Gire), financed by the Netherlands and Sweden in Mali is supporting the development of a water information system in Mali. The Ministry of Water and Energy, through the National Directorate of Hydraulics (DNH), organized, on Wednesday, March 21, 2018, a validation workshop of the National Water Information System (Sineau). The workshop aims to identify and correct weaknesses and malfunctions affecting the system in order to make it operational and more efficient.
The NBA GIZ Nexus support project organized in Niamey a regional workshop on the consultation and awareness-raising on the intersectoral aspects (nexus) of the operational plan of the NBA on 19 and 20 June 2018. GWP WA took part in the meeting in view of exchanging meeting participants and the project manager of the GIZ Support Project for the Niger Basin Authority (NBA) who is also the NEXUS (Water-Energy-Food Security) Global Dialogues Representative in the Niger Basin.
Global Water Partnership Southern Africa Partners adopted strategic repositioning towards water security, job creation, industrialization and SDG implementation in June 2017.

The Ministry of Water and Energy (MINEE) of Cameroon, in collaboration with GWP Cameroon, organized on 28th September 2017, a workshop on the "Degree of implementation of Integrated Water Resources Management (SDG indicator 6.5.1)" in Cameroon as part of the process of supporting Cameroon in monitoring and reporting on Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6, specifically target 6.5: “By 2030, implement integrated water resources management at all levels, including through transboundary cooperation as appropriate”.
A workshop of the African collectives of the Water and Sanitation Civil Society took place in Cotonou from 24th to 26th January 2017. It brought together eight (8) countries from West and Central Africa, namely: Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Senegal and Togo.
The third edition of the National Water Week of Côte d'Ivoire (SNECI) took place from 18-20 July 2017 on the theme: "On the road to emergence, how does Côte d’Ivoire manage her water resources in with climate change? ".
