Scholars have warned that hydropower dams planned for eastern and southern Africa could put electricity supply at risk for vast regions because they rely on the same rainfall patterns for electricity generation.

The Prefect of Matiacoali is more specific on “the issue of conflicts between these two groups is a crucial reality in this area. The tribunal of the department has registered an average number of 18 conflicts between August 18 when I started service here and December 2016. The delimitation of these corridors for the benefit of the population will contribute to reduce drastically the conflicts”.

GWP Nigeria organized a General Assembly of Partners on February 2nd, 2017 and among the activities was the election of a new chair for the partnership. Dr Hassan Bdliya has served two terms in office from 2010 to 2016. After a rigorous process of selection, the country partners nominated and elected Mr. Moses Beckley as the new chair.

The 3^rd Regional Alumni Workshop in the framework of the Sida funded and Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) labelled programme ‘Water Integrity Capacity Building Programme for the MENA Region’[1] was organized by the Global Water Partnership – Mediterranean (GWP-Med), in collaboration with Al Akhawayn University, on 23-26 May 2016, in Ifrane, Morocco.
