Global Water Partnership Southern Africa - Africa is based in Pretoria, South Africa. The Secretariat also serves as the coordination unit for various programmes following the new strategy. Below, is a list of our team members who are working hard to ensure a more water secure continent.

GWP has been working closely with the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) for over 20 years – the first connection goes back all the way to 1996, when GWP was established. Today, GWP Southern Africa is a recognized implementing agency of SADC, and also a strategic partner. GWP has supported SADC through the different phases of its regional IWRM plan, and currently one of the key activities is implementing a regional Water-Energy-Food (WEF) Nexus Approach.

Sri Lanka Water partnership (SLWP) together with the Wetland Management Unit of Sri Lanka Land Reclamation and Development Cooperation (SLLRDC) organised an Interactive seminar on Water and Wetlands for Achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to mark the World Water Day 2017 (WWD 2017).

The 23rd International Congress on Irrigation and Drainage is organized by the Mexican National Committee of ICID (MXCID) from 8-14 October 2017 in Mexico City, Mexico. The main theme of the Congress is ‘Modernizing Irrigation and Drainage for a New Green Revolution’.

Resilient Cities - The Annual Global Forum on Urban Resilience and Adaptation - is the global platform for urban resilience and climate change adaptation, hosted in Bonn, Germany. 2017 marks the 8th edition of the Forum.

The Country Water Partnership of Ivory Coast (PNECI) organized a meeting to celebrate the World Water Day in the country on the Day’s topic on "nature based- solutions". The event was attended by representatives of partner ministries, state structures, the private sector and Ivorian civil society organizations.

The annual GWP Network Meeting will be held on 11 October at 13.00 Central European Time (CET). It is a virtual meeting, to be broadcast on the GWP website www.gwp.org – with a special guest message from UN Deputy Secretary General (DSG) Jan Eliasson. CWP Benin has engaged a wide operation to communicate on the topic of the Day by organizing debates on the television and a conference in partnership with component C of the Urban Water Urban Emergency Project.
