World Rivers Day is observed each year on the last Sunday of September and it is a celebration of the world's waterways. It highlights the many values of rivers and strives to increase public awareness and encourages the improved stewardship of rivers around the world. Rivers in virtually every country face an array of threats, and only through our active involvement can we ensure their health in the years ahead.

A national workshop was held on November 2, 2016 in Abidjan to validate the consultant report on the assessment of needs in integrated flood management. A study carried out by the Consultant, Mr. JIBIKILAYI Honoré.

On Tuesday, June 27, 2017, an important training session was held for 25 young volunteers from the Côte d'Ivoire Country Water Partnership (PNECI) network. Ten years after its creation, PNECI is reassessing its IWRM strategy and decides to correct its approach, which has not really made much progress in the IWRM process at the national level.

The Niger Basin Authority (NBA) and the Global Water Partnership West Africa (GWP-WA) signed on Wednesday, 21 June 2017 in Niamey a collaboration agreement between The two institutions. The idea of ​​signing such a collaborative framework document has been issued since 2009 but could not be realized.

World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and Global Water Partnership South Asia (GWP SAS) will be jointly organising ‘Climate Services User Forum (CSUF 27 and 28 April 2016) for the Water Sector in South Asia’ in association with WMO’s South Asian Climate Outlook Forum (SASCOF-8) in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
