The Global Water Partnership of West Africa, whose official abbreviation is "GWP/WA" was established in 2002 by water partners of the west african sub-region. GWP/WA is the regional branch of the Global Water Partnership.

International Conference on Climate Change Impacts and Adaptation for Food and Environmental Security organised by SEARCA (APAN Thematic Node on Agriculture)

The Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA), together with the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB), is pleased to announce an extension of the call for abstracts for the International Conference on Climate Change Impacts and Adaptation for Food and Environmental Security. The new deadline for submission of abstracts will be 16 September 2012. The conference will be held on 21-22 November 2012 at SEARCA, College, Los Baños, Laguna, Philippines with a one-day field trip within the Southern Tagalog Region on 23 November 2012.

Transboundary: Rural livelihoods and irrigation management transfer in Fergana valley of Central Asia (#362)

With the collapse of the USSR, the water sector seized to be subsidised leading to deterioration of basic infrastructure. Action was taken to partially transfer the responsibility for operation and maintenance of irrigation systems to water users. Nonetheless, this has had limited success because it has been seen as an additional cost rather than benefit. This illustrates that for this to work, the returned benefits need to be higher than the costs.

Jordan: From water service provision to planning and management in the Jordan valley authority (#161)

In order to meet new demands, the Jordan Valley Authority was in need for reform. Action was taken to initiate a public strategic planning process led by a steering committee composed of all relevant stakeholders and various working groups. The case consequently illustrates how an integrated strategic planning process can create conditions under which all stakeholders can be involved in the proposed institutional reform.

Celebration of World Water Day in South Asia

World Water Day 2012 was celebrated on 22nd March under the theme of "Water and Food Security: The World is Thirsty Because We are Hungry". GWP.org can handle most languages with ease and a little adjustment by the admin. GWP-Med Secretariat

The GWP-Med Secretariat has the overall responsibility for the coordination and day-to-day function of GWP-Med. It implements the oganisation's annual Work Plan corresponding to GWP's Strategy and manages all GWP-Med initiatives, programmes and projects. It is also responsible for the organisation’s outreach activities, and for promoting collaborations and synergies with other organisations, institutes and processes active in the Mediterranean.
