The African Ministers Council on Water recently (AMCOW) acknowledged the value of its partnership with GWP at their General Assembly in Cairo, Egypt, on May 14, 2012, where the AMCOW Framework for Water Security and Climate Resilient Development was launched. GWP conducted a training course on the “Application of the GWP IWRM ToolBox” at the Yerevan State University in Armenia, 25-26 April 2012. One of the main purposes of the training was to demonstrate how the GWP IWRM ToolBox can be used in university curricula.
The High-Level Roundtable on Water Resources Management System Development in China was organized by GWP China on April 20, 2012, in Beijing. The meeting aimed at establishing water management mechanisms with well-defined duties, rights and responsibilities, coordination mechanisms for the development of river basins, and facilitating stricter and better water management through the integrated water resources management approach.
Dr. József Gayer, Chair of GWP Hungary delivered presentations about integrated water resources management during Water Saving Weeks at 7 universities and colleges across Hungary in March and April 2012.
ICIMOD, a partner organisation of GWP-SAS, has announced the release of a new concept paper, "Contribution of Himalayan Ecosystems to Water, Energy and Food Security in South Asia: A nexus approach." This topic was presented by ICIMOD at two events at the Rio summit.
