Prof Amadou Hama Maiga has officially met with the staff of the regional secretariat on October 18 and 19 to exchange on ongoing matters. An opportunity for him to exchange deeply with the outgoing Executive Secretary Mr. Dam Mogbante and the incoming Mr. Armand Houyane who also came to Ouagadougou for that purpose.

Xiang River is one of main tributaries of the Yangtze River and the largest river in Hunan Province, providing water for domestic and industrial use as well as water transport. Changsha, the capital of Hunan and other developed cities in Hunan, with higher urbanization and dense population, are concentrated in the Xiang River Basin. Xiang River flows through Changsha and affords the city drinking water. For citizens, the health of the river affects the security of each family and their living environment.

MEdIES is a regional initiative on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), launched in Johannesburg during the World Summit on Sustainable Development (WSSD, 2002). It is in line with the principles of the UN Decade on ESD (2005-2014) and is being implemented through various educational activities in the Mediterranean countries. ECOWAS Water Resources Coordination Center organized a meeting in Lomé, Togo from 25-27 October 2017 to present, discuss and validate the 63 IWRM indicators of ECOWAS and the 40 indicators of AMCOW.

The National Climate Change Response Strategy (NCCRS) that was adopted in July 2014 was officially launched by the Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa on the 19^th of November 2015 at Rainbow Towers Hotel in Harare, Zimbabwe. The launch was attended by senior government officials, representatives from different organisations in the water sector and the local leadership drawn from the 9 Provinces around the country. The launch came at a time when Zimbabwe is stepping up efforts towards climate change adaptation and mitigation as witnessed by the development of the Strategy and the Intended National Determined Contributions (INDCs) to support the process.
