On August 17, GWP granted formal accreditation to GWP Colombia - or “Alianza Colombiana para el Agua”, which is the local name. Colombia is a country recognised by its technical capacity in Latin America and beyond.

The GWP-WA Executive Secretariat Team met on 25 and 26 July 2018 at the premises of the Secretariat. The meeting aims were: (i) to make a mid-year assessment of the implementation of the annual work plan 2018 and (ii) to take the necessary steps to facilitate the attainment of the targeted objectives and the expected results by the end of the year for the network.

The Federal Republic of Nigeria House of Representatives committee on Water Resources engaged stakeholders and the general public in a two-day public hearing (17 and 18 October 21017) on "a bill for an act to establish a regulatory framework for the Water Resources sector in Nigeria".

On July 1, 2016, Dr. Oyun Sanjaasuren assumes the role of new Chair of the Global Water Partnership (GWP): "I think those who set up GWP 20 years ago - the people, organisations, governments - were very visionary and had good foresight. The Niger Basin Authority (NBA) and the Global Water Partnership West Africa (GWP-WA) signed on Wednesday, 21 June 2017 in Niamey a collaboration agreement between The two institutions. The idea of ​​signing such a collaborative framework document has been issued since 2009 but could not be realized.

The Country Water Partnership of Mali (CWP-Mali) held its 7th Ordinary General Assembly on Thursday, September 13, 2018 in Bamako. The discussions focused on the difficulties in mobilizing funds to finance activities, organizational problems, etc.

The NGO Jeunes Volontaires pour l'Environnement (JVE) is advocating for the establishment of a real framework for consultation between the Ministry in charge of Water and civil society organizations involved in the sector.

The DANUBE FLOODPLAIN project, supported by Interreg Europe through the Danube Transnational Programme (DTP), will be implemented by 18 partners with 4 associated strategic partners across ten countries sharing the Danube River Basin (Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Slovakia, Slovenia, Romania and Serbia).
