The Project Officer took part on May 6 and 11 respectively in Burkina and Niger to follow up meetings to discuss the standard template for the drafting of the consultants reports on the identification of national development priorities in the Mékrou basin.

On Tuesday, March 22, 2016, the 23^rd edition of the World Water Day was celebrated by the National Institute of water (INE) and CWP Benin with support from CARE, Abms PSI and water Company FIFA. A panel debate was organized on the Campus of the University of Abomey Calavi (UAC), in the presence of the Rector of the University Brice SINSIN on the theme “Water sector in Benin: What employment opportunities for young people?" in relation to the global topic “Water and Employment."

Sustainable Water Integrated Management – Support Mechanism (SWIM-SM), the largest water-related regional project supported by the European Commission (EC) during 2010-2015, successfully concluded its phase I, and held its Final Steering Committee (SC) Meeting in Luxembourg, on the 25^th of November. With a budget of 7.7 million Euros, the project was implemented in nine south Mediterranean countries[1] by a consortium led by LDK and with GWP-Med as the project technical director.

One of the greatest barriers to achieving sustainable development is the increasing depletion of natural resources resulting in the degradation of ecosystems that are essential for human well-being and economic prosperity. This briefing note outlines the importance of ecosystem conservation. Briefing notes are two-page summaries on selected topics. They are prepared by GWP’s Global Secretariat and its partners.

GWP has sponsorship available for eligible participants to complete the online course in Integrated and Adaptive Water Resources Planning, Management and Governance offered by McGill University’s Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences.

Global Water Partnership-Caribbean’s (GWP-C’s) partner, the Caribbean Water and Wastewater Association (CWWA) will host its 2016 Conference and Exhibition from October 24^th – 28^th, 2016 in Trinidad. 

The 7^th SADC Multi Stakeholder Water Dialogue, a biennial activity which provides a platform for regional stakeholders to discuss and share experiences on different aspects of Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) will this year be held from the 29^th to the 30^th of September in Windhoek, Namibia. Running under the theme “Watering Development in SADC: The central role of water in driving industrialization” this year's Water Dialogue will focus on unpacking the role that water will play in driving industrialisation in the region.
