Global Water Partnership Central and Eastern Europe releases today a video lecture on Natural Small Water Retention Measures which is available online for free and open to the public.

GWP China Water and Climate Programme aims to integrate water security and climate resilience in development planning processes, build climate resilience and support provinces to adapt to a new climate regime through increased investments in water security.

On Wednesday, 30 August 2017, an awareness and information workshop for civil society, the media and the general public was held in Cotonou on the ECOWAS Directive on the development of hydraulic infrastructures. The workshop was organized by the Benin Country Water Partnership in collaboration with the Ministry in charge of water and the financial support of the IUCN Global Water Initiative (GWI) Project.

Global Technical Committee (TEC) members mingled with the regional TEC and some partners of GWP West Africa on 10th to 12th April 2017 in Accra, Ghana. The occasion was a training on Collaborative modelling for decision support in Integrated Water Resources Management.

The 2021 European River Symposium is scheduled for 26-27 May. The event will focus on building connections between institutions, organisations and companies with an interest in rivers and whose activities affect the health and quality of river water and ecosystems.

The African Minister’s Council on Water (AMCOW) Secretariat, in collaboration with the Government of the Republic of Kenya and Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), and Regional Economic Communities (RECs) together with Global Water Partnership (GWP) organised a Water Resources Management Priority Action Plan (WRM-PAP) validation meeting from the 16th to the 18th of May 2016. The validation meeting will be followed by a Consultation Meeting on the Draft Framework and Indicators for the Water and Sanitation Sector Monitoring and Reporting in Africa scheduled for the 19th and 20th of May 2016 in Nairobi, Kenya. 

The partners of the Country Water Partnership (CWP) of Côte d’Ivoire held an Assembly on 26 July, which elected Dr. KOFFI Bruno as the new chair person. Dr. KOFFI Bruno is taking over Mr. NDRI Koffi as the chair of the CWP.

Africa in particular its sub Saharan part, is one of the most affected areas in the world regarding food insecurity (Africa 2014 report on hunger, IFPRI). The agricultural sector which food security and poverty reduction depends very much on in Africa is likely to be affected by climate change if no action is taken.  It is against that background that The Global Water Partnership Southern Africa held national consultations on water and food in Malawi and Lesotho on the 21^st of April 2016.
