Preliminary planned Project Manager’s trip to the pilot sites at the end of 2013 could not be implemented due to various organizational, financial and visa problems. Starting from the first quarter of 2014 the familiarization with the ongoing work on the program pilot sites began in coordination with the national project teams.
As part of the implementation of Mekrou project, and in order to lay the foundations for proper planning, a socio-economic survey will be carried out on households in the basin area in the 3 countries. An initial technical information and training workshop of country coordinators of these investigations was held in Cotonou from 18 to 20 November 2015.
Today, 5 October 2015 at the Regional Council Meeting, Global Water Partnership Central and Eastern Europe is releasing a new video about the organization as part of a campaign for welcoming new Partners.
In 2014, GWP Central America with key partners put into place five pilot projects that demonstrate that water security and IWRM are fundamental to adaptation to climate change. Two of the projects are already proving the point.
In conjunction with World Water Day 2015, the Global Environment Centre (GEC) – a GWP Partner in Malaysia – organized “Water Play” under the Water Conservation Programme for schools in Malaysia, also known as the Dr. H20 project.
In line with the GWP strategic thematic area on urbanisation, GWP is collaborating with AfDB – Africa Water Facility and Partners to support the region and countries in Africa to address challenges related to water management in urban areas in cities in Africa. In view of this, a capacity building workshop on IUWM was held from 25th to 28th January in Abidjan, Ivory Coast aimed at contributing to the well-being of the urban population of Africa by improving water and wastewater services through the implementation of an integrated approach.
