The young parliamentarians acting through the National Youth Parliament for Water and Sanitation (PNJEA) of Benin, have organized on Thursday, October 29, 2015, in Cotonou an official ceremony to present the White Booklet to the Beninese authorities. The PNJEA also seized the opportunity to distinguish its godfathers and godmothers including the Minister of Water.

Africa Water Week (AWW), the African continents premier biennial event on the water calendar was held in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania from 18-22 July, 2016. The sixth AWW was held under the theme “Achieving the SDGs on Water Security and Sanitation”. The theme was built on the success and deliberations of the 2014 5^th Africa Water Week on “Placing Water at the Heart of the post 2015 Development Agenda”.

GWP Eastern Africa was constituted in 2003 by stakeholders to support the sustainable development and management of water resources at all levels in the region. It focuses on achieving the vision, mission and strategic goals of GWP global through approved workplans and budgets. It is based in Entebbe, Uganda.

 

One of GWPEA key partners to convey its messages and reach out to various stakeholders is the media. GWPEA values its crucial role and is constantly engaged in media relation initiatives, building the capacity of media practitioners and journalists to pick interest in water and climate change reporting so that there is an increase in number and quality of related stories in the media.

 

On the occasion of the World Water Day 2018 and its topic ‘Nature for Water’, we present the FramWat project. It brings an innovative approach to the implementation of the nature-based small water retention measures in the river basin management plans.

The Global Water Partnership Mediterranean is seeking to hire an Individual Consultant in the framework of the project Water, Climate and Development Programme «WACDEP» in synergy with ‘Making Water Cooperation Happen in the Mediterranean’ Project, in relation to the “Gender Mainstreaming Strategy“ in the NWSAS basin and “Training on gender mainstreaming in development planning”.

GWP West Africa, Eau Vive (a French NGO), IRC, the municipality of Dori in Burkina Faso and other partners celebrated the World Water Day in Dori (northern part of Burkina) by paying a tribute to GWP WA's former Chair Honorable Hama Arba Diallo who passed away on 31 October 2014. A series of activities were done starting with a panel discussion on the topic « Leadership for the access to water and sanitation, the role and place of local officials : Example of Hama Arba Diallo ».

In the 6th Africa Water Week, the largest biennial water event in Africa, held in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania, on July 18-22, 2016, GWP-Med shared its experience on mobilising Non Conventional Water Resources (NCWR) as a measure to augment water availability in urban environment.

At the GWP CEE Regional Council Meeting held on 1-2 October 2016 in Vilnuis, Lithuania, GWP CEE Council elected Prof. Tomasz Okruszko (GWP Poland Chair) the new Chair of GWP CEE for the period 2017-2018.
