Capacity development at transboundary and national levels is urgently required to enhance local technical, analytical and institutional capacity for climate resilient development. This is a key pillar of the WACDEP and NAPs process. Investment planning for climate resilient development needs to be informed by sound economic analysis of adaptation. In collaboration with AMCOW, CDKN, UNDP-GEF, CapNet and GWP, a Capacity Development Initiative on Economics of Adaptation, Water Security and Climate Resilient Development is implemented in Africa.
The Global Water Partnership-Caribbean (GWP-C) under its Water, Climate and Development Programme (WACDEP) has developed a key capacity building resource called the Caribbean Climate Online Risk and Adaptation Tool (CCORAL)-Water initiative.
The Country Water Partnerships invited to take part in the inaugural session of the Steering Committee meeting of GWP met with the Regional Secretariat and the Network Officers in the afternoon of November 25. This was an opportunity to review the latest version of the GWP 2014-2019 Strategy and GWP West Africa 2014-2016 Work Programme as well as initiatives and opportunities that may be of some interest to CWPs.

All Primary and Secondary Schools of the Cycladic islands and of the four project islands of the Dodecanese (Kastelorizo, Symi, Chalki, Rhodes), where educational activities were implemented, are invited to participate in the school competition “The Gift of Rain” from the 1st of January 2014 to the 10th of March 2014.

The GWP Water, Climate and Development Programme (WACDEP) guided and inspired a National Dialogue between the Burundi Ministry of Water, Environment, Land Management and Urbanism (MEATU) and citizens over the sustainable management of the Cohoha Water Catchment in December 2013.
In 2013 Global Water Partnership (GWP) and World Meteorological organization (WMO) launched a joint Integrated Drought Management Programme to improve monitoring and prevention of one of the world’s greatest natural hazards.
The Workshop was held in chenzhou, Hunan Province on January 17, 2014. Mr. Zheng Rugang, Coordinator of GWP China was invited to the workshop. Before the workshop, the report on the work in 2013 completed by GWP China Hunan was made by Mr.Liu Siyuan, Vice Chair of GWP China Hunan.
