Fifteen African Union (AU) Member States that gathered in Nairobi, Kenya, for the kick-off workshop of the AU-AIP Green Climate Fund (GCF) Readiness Support Initiative have hailed the multi-country initiative saying it gives them a continental-wide platform to learn from each other in efforts to accelerate water and climate resilience investments through the Africa Water Investment Programme (AIP).
Organised by SIWI, World Water Week 2024 aims to highlight water cooperation, for peace and security in its broadest sense. GWP and its network will co-convene, support and take part in various activities, both within the formal agenda of the Week but also side-events and other conversations outside the venue.
On Friday, 11 August 2023 the Regional Steering Committee meeting was held. 16 persons was involved in the discussion representing Regional Water Partnership, Country Water Partnerships, and GWP Organisation represented by a Senior Network Officer for Caribbean and Southeast Asia.
Among the major advances in the implementation of IWRM and the national effort to finance the management and protection of water resources in Burkina Faso, we can cite the adoption and implementation of the Financial Contribution for Water (CFE). It is well known that one of the challenges in all developing countries is the mobilization of resources to finance the sustainable management of water resources. "This is why Burkina Faso has adopted the principles of environmental taxation of the country, which is called the CFE," explains Mr. Firmin W. OUEDRAOGO of SP / IWRM.
Mali and Burkina Faso are celebrating ten years since the creation of the Joint Technical Committee for Integrated Water Resources Management (CTC-GIRE). The meeting takes place on December 18 and 19, 2023 in Bobo-Dioulasso.
