“MENA Focus” during the World Water Week 2016 in Stockholm

“Water for Sustainable Growth” is the theme of the World Water Week 2016 organized by the Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI) from 28 August to 2 September, in Stockholm.

Among the Week’s more than 140 events of different formats covering a range of subjects, the Global Water Partnership – Mediterranean (GWP-Med) coordinates on 30 & 31 August, the “MENA Focus”, consisting of 4 separate sessions, each led by partners active in the Middle East & North Africa (MENA) Region.

GWP Launches Paper on Water and the SDGs

The inclusion of a water goal in the the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) puts the responsibility for linking water to other development sectors firmly in the hands of water policy makers and practitioners. GWP’s Technical Background Paper No. 22 addresses the implementation of the water goal in the context of an integrated, cross-sectoral approach.

#TonFuturTonClimat kick-off meeting of the initiative in Ouagadougou

The TonFuturTonClimat initiative is the result of a GWP-WA and the International Secretariat of Water (ISW) response to the November 2016 call of proposal of the International Climate Cooperation Program (ICCP) funded by the Government of Quebec's Green Fund. The ICCP aims to contribute to efforts to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and adapt to the impacts of climate change (CC) in the most vulnerable French-speaking countries.

Fourth SADC Regional Water Programme conversed during 16th WaterNet/ WARFSA/ GWPSA Symposium

The 16th WaterNet/WARFSA/GWP-SA Symposium was held on the island of Mauritius at Le Méridien Hotel from the 28 to 30 of October 2015 under the theme ‘Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) and Infrastructure Planning for Water Security in Southern Africa’. The University of Mauritius, a GWPSA partner was the lead host of the Symposium. The Symposia has been held annually in the Eastern and Southern African region for the past 15 years to promote interaction among policymakers, academics, practitioners from water and related sectors, and cooperating partners.

7th SADC Dialogue - “Watering Development in SADC: The central role of water in driving industrialisation”

The 7th SADC Multi Stakeholder Water Dialogue, a biennial activity which provides a platform for regional stakeholders to discuss and share experiences on different aspects of Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) will this year be held from the 29th to the 30th of September in Windhoek, Namibia. Running under the theme “Watering Development in SADC: The central role of water in driving industrialization” this year's Water Dialogue will focus on unpacking the role that water will play in driving industrialisation in the region.
