The Global Water Partnership (GWP) announced the launch of its new 2014-2019 global strategy today.

There is a need for stakeholders to be organized, capacitated and empowered in order to be effectively involved in decision-making processes in the development and management of shared water resources, improved climate resilience, poverty alleviation and ensuring that water resources are secure. With that objective in mind, GWP SA through the Namibia Water Partnership conducted its first training workshop aimed at broadening stakeholder participation in Transboundary Water Resources Management in the Orange – Senqu basin.

The online registration and the call for papers and proposals for the 5^th Africa Water Week is now open. The deadline for papers and proposals is March 22^nd 2014. The 5^th Africa Water Week will be held in Dakar, Senegal from 26^th to 31^st of May 2014. Overall theme: Placing Water at the Heart of the Post 2015 Development Agenda!

In the framework of the Alter Aqua - Non Conventional Water Resources Program in Malta two events workshops will be held in the Island of Gozo on Wednesday 19 September 2012, as follows:

In the Danube hydrographic basin, agricultural practices continue to be the main source of water pollution. A pilot project “Best Agricultural Practices” was initiated focusing on e.g. nutrient management, conservation tillage and manure management. Awareness campaigns were initiated, training and education of farmers were emphasised. The key lesson is that these projects should be complimented by other technical and investment measures.
