The 21^st Regional Council (RC) Meeting of Global Water Partnership South Asia (GWP SAS) was held on 7 and 8 October 2015 in Islamabad, Pakistan.

The Capacity Development component of WACDEP under the theme “Economics of Adaptation, Water Security and Climate Resilient Development In Africa" has been launched by the Ghana Country Water Partnership (CWP-Ghana) on 18^th February, 2014. The event was held at Erata Hotel in Accra, Ghana during the organisation of the first Module of the workshop.

One of the unique components of the Caribbean Water and Climate Knowledge Platform is its regional databases.

The Botswana SADC Water Week was held from 28-30 April 2015 in Gaborone at the Cresta President Hotel (Journalist training and Youth Forum) and the Cresta Lodge for the consultative forum. During the youth forum, the youth agreed on setting up a structure that will implement youth activities at country level and this will be housed by the Botswana Water Partnership Secretariat.

UNITAR and GWP are extending an exclusive invitation to the January 2014 – June 2015 trainees of the AU-AMCOW-WACDEP Capacity Development Programme on the “Economics of Adaptation, Water Security and Climate Resilient Development” programme to undertake the UNITAR – GWP online assessment from 3-14^th July 2015.

The assessment is being administered on the UNITAR virtual learning platform (www.learnatunitar.org). Read more



Sixth meeting of Task Force on Water and Climate (Convention of the Protection and Use of  Transboundary Watercourses and International Lakes) was held in Geneva, Switzerland, on 27 June 2013.

In collaboration with the White Volta Basin Office of the Water Resources Commission (WRC), the Ghana Country Water Partnership (CWP-Ghana) has carried out the validation workshop for the report of the study on "Socio economic and environmental analysis and Logical framework development of field interventions for building community resilience in the White Volta River Basin".

Working through the Global Water Partnership Southern Africa (GWP SA), the Zambian Country Water Partnership will be undertaking the UN Water Consultation for Zambia on the 5^th March 2014 at Cresta Golf View Hotel, Lusaka, Zambia. The consultation will be undertaken in view of GWPSA’s efforts to support its 12 Country Water Partnerships and build on the Global Network’s value to add to global processes supporting sustainable development through better water resource management.  

Benin CWP has coordinated the setting up of the national National Youth Parliament for Water and Sanitation (PNJEA) of Benin with the aim of involving Youth more in the issues around water and sanitation through education, facilitation and sensitization. The Parliament will work for a greater involvement of Beninese youth in the issues of Water Resources Management Integrated; educate the youth on water-related issues and sanitation; facilitate good cooperation between youth and policy makers in the strategic decision making (water sectors, sanitation, energy, food security and biodiversity).
