Integrated Management of Shared Lakes Basins, July 2008, Ohrid, FYR Macedonia

A Capacity Building Workshop on "Integrated Management of Shared Lakes Basins", was organised in Ohrid FYR Macedonia, 16-18 July 2008 by the Global Water Partnership-Mediterranean (GWP-Med) and the Mediterranean Information Office for Environment, Culture and Sustainable Development (MIO/ECSDE) in cooperation with the GEF/UNDP "Integrated Ecosystem Management in the Prespa Lakes Basin of Albania, FYR-Macedonia and Greece" project and the FYR Macedonian Ministry for Environment and Physical Planning.

Ivory Coast

Côte d’Ivoire is situated by the coast of the North Atlantic Ocean, bordering Burkina Faso, Ghana, Mali, Guinea and Liberia. It has a tropical climate along the coast and semiarid in the far north. Its climate can be divided into three seasons: warm and dry (November to March), hot and dry (March to May), hot and wet (June to October). The country is very rich in natural resources and has large reserves of, among others, petroleum, natural gas, diamonds, cobalt, gold, coffee and palm oil.

First Practical Guide of Water Management in Latvia

GWP Latvia and GWP Partner Daugavas Savieniba have prepared new guidelines for the restoration of water streams. The guidelines are a first attempt in the country to explain practical practical tips for river management activities on different scales, embracing both low cost local activities, as well medium scale multipurpose projects.

Small water service providers in the Philippines now officially recognised

Involving small water service providers (SWSPs) as partners in sustainable water service provision has undergone a major change. Prior to the efforts of GWP Philippines and its Partners, SWSPs were not formally recognised as government partners in achieving the MDG target on water service provision.

First step taken towards water cooperation in Myanmar

Aiming to sow the seeds of cooperation on water and to forge links across sectors, GWP Myanmar, the Myanmar Irrigation Department and the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation brokered a meeting in August 2012 where government agencies, NGOs and journalists met to discuss water, energy and food security.
