ECOWAS trains focal points on Climate Resilient Water investment programming and IWRM

The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) together with the African Union Commission (AUC), Global Water Management (GWP) and Africa Water Investment Program Secretariat (AIP Sec) organised a training on Climate Resilient Water Projects, Investment and Integrated Water Resources Management in Dakar, Senegal on 7 and 8 July 2025.

GWP-Central Africa in Action 2023

The year 2023 was a remarkable year for GWP as the organization draws towards the end of its global strategy 2020-2025. In Central Africa, great strides were made by all five countries (Cameroon, Chad, Central African Republic, Republic of Congo and Sao Tomé and Principe) in the region to advance the implementation of Integrated Water Resource Management (IWRM) and to address challenges related to climate change, gender equality in the water sector amongst other things.

In pursuit of innovation at World Water Week 2023

This year, World Water Week broke with traditional themes by showcasing innovation for a ‘water-wise world’. The foremost annual water conference brought more than 15,000 participants to Stockholm – physically and virtually – to rethink how we can responsibly manage water with the aid of innovation. With more than 20 events as well as a booth, GWP played its part in putting water at the centre of development.

The MedProgramme continues its efforts to assist Lebanon in advancing with sustainable natural resources management and water, food and energy security

The 2nd Multi-stakeholder Consultation in Lebanon consolidated MedProgramme’s engagement towards sustainability in the Mediterranean Region through the promotion of synergistic efforts among the Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystems (WEFE) Nexus approach, the preparation of a strategy for Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM) and conjunctive surface and groundwater management interventions.

“Footprints of GWP South Asia: on Mr Sadar Tariq’s eyes”

Sardar Muhammad Tariq, born on 15 May 1939, has over 53 years experience in planning, design, tendering and construction management of water resources and hydropower development projects Asia. He was a former Chairman of the South Asia Technical Advisory Committee (SASTAC) and the Regional Chair of Global Water Partnership South Asia (GWP SAS) from 2010 to 2012. Time to time he held the position of Regional Council Member of GWP SAS representing Pakistan and currently holds the position of Executive Director/CEO of GWP Pakistan (Pakistan Water Partnership).
