February 5, 2009 – Leaders from the Global Water Partnership (GWP) and the African Ministers’ Council on Water (AMCOW) met to address concrete water and climate change issues on the continent, and to build on the growing collaboration between the two organisations.

The annual Global Water Partnership Consulting Partners Meeting will be held in the vicinity of the Arlanda Airport, Stockholm, Sweden on September 3rd – 4th immediately before the Stockholm World Water Week. The theme of the meeting will be: “Exploring the role of Water Security in Regional Economic Development”.

A number of well known international organisations and research centers join forces to highlight the role of water in the context of climate change. The newly formed alliance, named the Water and Climate Coalition, is officially launched today at a side event at the climate talks in Bonn.

Most Mediterranean countries have embarked upon or are well underway water sector reform processes through the elaboration and/or update/revision of IWRM Plans and Water Strategies, with governance firmly placed at the centrepiece and IWRM forming the guiding framework.

The 2nd Partners Meeting of GWP China was taken place on 13 May, in Changsha, Hunan Province.
The Ministry of Water Resources of China officially replied to the 《Survey Report on Rural Drinking Water Safety and Water Saving Ecological Campus of Rural Middle and Primary Schools》developed by the GWP China Shaanxi.
