The studies on "Identification of national development priorities on the Mékrou basin in Benin, Burkina Faso and Niger were validated after comments made by the consultant were discussed and taken into account by national consultants.

 

More than 80 Members of Parliaments (MPs), journalists, country administrators, intergovernmental organisations, NGOs, and private partners from 16 countries contributed to a regional workshop dedicated to climate change adaptation in coastal areas of the Mediterranean (5-6 November 2015, Athens).

This Strategic Framework advances sector thinking around WASH and climate change. It is a collaboration between GWP and UNICEF.

Over the years, the people of Seychelles have had an increased access to an improved drinking water source. Statistics show that access to water stood at 88.9% in 1990 and at 97 percent in 2010 respectively. Similarly, indicators of access to improved sanitation show an increase from 78% in 1994 to over 97% in 2012.

The CWP Ivory Coast met on August 12 the new Water Resources Director to exchange on opportunities for enhancing collaboration between the two.
The Director hoped that the CWP can support his directorate in raising awareness and informing the population on some basic documents adopted and not well known. These include water policy documents, decrees of the water code, mobilization strategies on the IWRM PLAN financing, the operationalization of PLANGIRE through projects, waste of water. Complementarity of actions of the two structures was noted by the interlocutors.

GWP has published its Annual Report for 2014, highlighting network achievements across all regions. “2014 was a rich and inspiring year. We significantly increased the visibility of our growing network at the local, regional, and global level,” wrote GWP Chair Dr. Ursula Schaefer-Preuss in her introduction.

The 7^th World Water Forum was held from April 12 to 17, 2015 in South Korea. This event, which is now included in to the global sustainable development agenda has brought together thousands of participants from all continents of the world. Water is needed to provide humanity with food and energy, and it must be managed properly to ensure the survival of the earth's ecosystem. That "nexus" makes an Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) approach indispensable.
