GWP-Med is based on a extensive network of partners and collaborators working together to promote Integrated Water Resources Management and create a water secure future for the countries of the region.

A key part of ensuring that future water practitioners take an integrated approach to managing water resources is to target those training young water professionals. GWP Central America is strengthening its work with universities to provide them with knowledge and information on water resources management. In recent months, Country Water Partnerships and the Regional Secretariat have organized events for the academic community.

Under the theme, “Water, Energy and Food Security: Call for Solutions”, more than 1,000 water professionals from India and abroad participated in the first India Water Week in April, in New Delhi. GWP Southern Africa and the African Ministers' Council on Water (AMCOW) organised a workshop to promote dialogue in Eastern and Southern Africa on water, climate change and national development.

For the first time, GWP Central America signed an agreement with a regional development bank to advance IWRM as an essential approach for water security, climate change and the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals in the region.

Participants at the High-Level Roundtable on Water Resources Management System Development in China, organised in April 2012 by GWP China, discussed the setting up of a water resources management system with well-defined duties, rights and responsibilities, standard and collaborative operations, and coordination mechanisms for river basin and regional development, using the IWRM approach.

Global Water Partnership-Caribbean (GWP-C) had the opportunity to share information on rainwater harvesting and water conservation with hundreds of students at the Preysal Community Science Week held in Trinidad on November 7^th - 12^th, 2011.
