Three new members of the GWP Technical Committee have been appointed. After a worldwide search in 2009, 95 nominations were received. Taking into account the Committee’s existing experience and expertise, its regional mix, gender (four women, three men) and its anticipated areas of work, the GWP Steering Committee approved the appointment of the following new members:

‒ Launching of a Strategic Framework at Africa Water Week 2012
In an effort to address the twin challenges of water security and climate change, the African Ministers Council on Water launched The Strategic Framework for Water Security and Climate Resilient Development on May 14, 2012, at the Africa Water Week, in Cairo, Egypt.
The Global Water Partnership together with IHP-HELP Centre for Water Law, Policy and Science, under the auspices of UNESCO, at the University of Dundee, is looking to build on their successful 2011 International Water Law Programme, and offer scholarships for 30 participants to undertake a module in International Water Law, in Dundee 11-29 June 2012.
On Saturday, December 3rd, 2011, the African Ministers Council on Water in conjunction with the African Union Commission, the African Development Bank, the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, the Department of Water Affairs South Africa, the Global Water Partnership and Water and Climate Coalition arranged an all-day event on Water, Climate and Development in the River Room at the African Pavilion.

GWP Country Water Partnerships met November 6 to start work on a road map for an initiative between the GWP Water, Climate and Development Programme for Africa (WACDEP), the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), and the Nile Basin Initiative. Participants agreed that WACDEP will be implemented as a joint programme with the UNEP climate change adaptation project on the Nile Basin. GWP Eastern Africa is supporting UNEP to build stakeholder capacities.
The Sino-Swiss Cooperation Dialogue was taken place in the office building of the Ministry of Water Resources on October 19, 2010.
