The MENA-OECD Governance Programme would like to announce the launching of the

"Young Mediterranean Leaders Initiative", on the proposal of the European Training Foundation (EFT), and with the support of the European Group for Public Administration and the College of Europe.

The GWP West Africa  strategic plan document  was developed following a participatory process with regional partners of GWP-WA. It was inspired by the five-year strategy of the GWP network with its four strategic goals developed using the methodology of Outcome Mapping.

GWP-Med is based on a extensive network of partners and collaborators working together to promote Integrated Water Resources Management and create a water secure future for the countries of the region.

GWP Country Water Partnerships met November 6 to start work on a road map for an initiative between the GWP Water, Climate and Development Programme for Africa (WACDEP), the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), and the Nile Basin Initiative. Participants agreed that WACDEP will be implemented as a joint programme with the UNEP climate change adaptation project on the Nile Basin. GWP Eastern Africa is supporting UNEP to build stakeholder capacities.

A recently released study by the World Bank emphasizes the importance of better information and a more integrated approach to water management.

Further steps towards implementing a Global Framework for Climate Services (GFCS) were taken on 26-28 September 2011 in Rome at a meeting co-organised by FAO and WMO. The aim of the meeting was to develop a strategy for the agriculture and food security and water sectors of the User Interface Platform which is intended to link climate service providers and users with a view to “building the capacity of users to make better use of climate services, collecting users’ requirements, assisting in the monitoring and evaluation of the Framework and promoting a global understanding of the Framework”.

Global Water Partnership-Caribbean (GWP-C) member, Ms. Judy Daniel is one of only thirty persons from across the globe that has been awarded a scholarship through the 2012 GWP-University of Dundee International Water Law (IWL) Scholarship Programme. The scholarship will enable her to undertake a module in International Water Law at the University of Dundee in Scotland from June 11^th -29^th, 2012.
