An evaluation of portfolio project proposals of the National Designated Authority (NDA) in the Central African Republic revealed that gender was not adequately considered in climate project proposals submitted to Climate funds most especially, the Green Climate Fund. This meant that the project proposals did not meet the GCF requirements for the inclusion of gender and the NDA did not have the capacity to verify gender inclusion. To address this, the GWL-led GCF Country Readiness project in the country coordinated the development of a Gender and Social Inclusion Assessment Framework.
GWP-Med is leading the “Pathways to Impact” Work Package in the Horizon 2020 REXUS project, coordinating communication and dissemination activities. The 1st plenary meeting, which took place on 21 and 27 October 2021, brought together more than 60 participants from over 20 institutions, sharing advances on various pieces of the REXUS ‘jigsaw puzzle’ which is coming together to create new blueprint for applying the Water-Energy-Food-Climate Nexus.

Lilongwe, Malawi, March 14, 2024 – Leaders from seven African, Middle Eastern and Asian countries including high-level delegates from UNICEF, the British High Commission in Malawi and the Global Water Partnership are meeting in Lilongwe, Malawi, to assess efforts made in the seven countries towards building more climate-resilient water services under the multi-partner Global Water Leadership (GWL) Programme.
At the UN 2023 Water Conference, GWP joined partners to highlight the source-to-sea approach as a key holistic measure to achieve SDG 6 through new sectoral linkages, as well as SDG 13, 14 and 15.
On October 29, 2024, the 2024 Hebei Water Expo, marking its second edition, commenced at the Shijiazhuang International Convention and Exhibition Center. With the theme of "Cultivating New Productive Forces and Scripting Hebei's Water Conservancy Construction in the Chinese Path to Modernization," the exposition represents a pivotal event.
Recognising the urgent need to address transboundary water management challenges, GWP has joined forces with more than 40 governments, international organisations, international financing institutions, NGOs, academia and research centres under the Transboundary Water Cooperation Coalition.
