The Global Water Partnership Patron Margaret Catley-Carson participated at the 40th World Economic Forum in Davos on 27-31 January 2010 to put focus on water issues in relation to economics.
Ambassadors from ten Asian Embassies in Stockholm visited the GWPO offices on 18 March at the invitation by the Executive Secretary, to talk about water and GWP’s work in their respective countries and regions.
Three new members of the GWP Technical Committee have been appointed. After a worldwide search in 2009, 95 nominations were received. In an effort to engage the youth and help them understand the value of access to potable water, the Grenada Community Development Agency (GRENCODA) held a four-day Student Assistance Programme (SAP) Camp for students between the ages of 12-16 years under the theme “Water a Critical Development Resource, Seriously Challenged.”
Workshop on Groundwater Development and Utilization in Jinghui Canal Irrigation Area was taken place in Xi’an, Shaanxi Province. The workshop was sponsored by the GWP China Shaanxi, co-sponsored by Shaanxi Provincial Water Resources Department,Shaanxi Provincial Hydraulic Engineering Society and Shaanxi Provincial Irrigation Systems Association on June 22, 2011.
On Saturday, December 3rd, 2011, the African Ministers Council on Water in conjunction with the African Union Commission, the African Development Bank, the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, the Department of Water Affairs South Africa, the Global Water Partnership and Water and Climate Coalition arranged an all-day event on Water, Climate and Development in the River Room at the African Pavilion.

On September 4 the Global Water Partnership (GWP) arranges a unique lecture with the prominent and internationally recognized Dr. Ismail Serageldin, former Vice-President of the World Bank, the founding Chair of GWP, and currently Librarian and Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina in Egypt. Dr Serageldin was instrumental in establishing GWP in 1995 and continues to support GWP as a Patron.
At a GWP press briefing on 8 June 2010 at the UNFCCC climate change negotiations in Bonn, Germany, GWP Executive Secretary Dr. Ania Grobicki called for water, climate and development to be integrated into the UNFCCC's work on adaptation.
