The Global Water Partnership (GWP) and the African Ministers Council on Water (AMCOW) have unveiled a joint programme to support climate change adaptation in Africa.
Over 35 participants from Private Sector across the 11 countries of the Nile Basin Countries consensually that—“Climate Change Adaptation is no longer optional but essential for sustainable livelihoods in Nile Basin Countries.”
A Country Water Partnership (CWP) according to the Global Water Partnership (GWP) Organisation is seen as a body that is made up of the GWP Partners in a country.
With a surface area of 27,834 square km², Burundi is located between the 29° and 30°25 eastern meridians and between the 2°20 and 4°25 southern parallels. Burundi’s population is estimated at 8 million inhabitants.

The Rwanda-Burundi Transboundary Project in Bugesera Catchment themed “Water, Climate Change Development Program: Towards Water Security and Climate Resilience in Eastern Africa”, was held on 24th-25th July 2012, in Bugesera, borderline between Rwanda and Burundi.
In preparation for detailed implementation of the WACDEP and in order to scale up the programme activities to other WACDEP countries, the 2nd WACDEP Technical Coordination workshop was held on 9-11 May 2012 in Cairo, Egypt just before the Africa Water Week.
Building on the adoption of new water laws by Kazakhstan in 2003, Armenia in 2007 and Uzbekistan in 2009, GWP Central Asia and Caucasus (CACENA) pressed on to help put laws into practice.
Dedication to consultation and communication paid off in 2010 as policy makers established and consolidated a relationship with researchers in the Challenge Programme on Water and Food (CPWF) in the Limpopo River Basin.
