Global Water Partnership Caribbean continues to engage in a series of public education activities targeted at building awareness on rainwater harvesting as a means of water conservation. Its latest outreach was to more than 1,000 students and teachers from 42 schools in Trinidad and Tobago.

The Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA), together with the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB), is pleased to announce an extension of the call for abstracts for the International Conference on Climate Change Impacts and Adaptation for Food and Environmental Security. The new deadline for submission of abstracts will be 16 September 2012. The conference will be held on 21-22 November 2012 at SEARCA, College, Los Baños, Laguna, Philippines with a one-day field trip within the Southern Tagalog Region on 23 November 2012.

Water and its management is becoming not just a local but a global priority. The UN Rio+20 Declaration emphasises the need to establish a green economy as the means to achieving sustainable development while protecting and improving the world’s natural resources. Water is increasingly seen as a central plank of the green economy. It is embedded in all aspects of development – food security, health, and poverty reduction – and in sustaining economic growth in agriculture, industry, and energy generation.

The Nile Council of Ministers (NILE-COM) meeting held in Kigali, Rwanda on 5^th July 2012, commended Global Water Partnership Eastern Africa (GWPEA) projects specifically Bugesera Transbandary Project implemented in the framework of WACDEP, and Adapting to Climate Change Induced Water Stress in River Nile Basin, a SIDA-UNEP funded project.

Within the framework of implementing the climate change related commitments of the Sharm el-Sheikh Declaration on Water and Sanitation, GWP and AMCOW are implementing the Water Climate Development programe (WACDEP). The WACDEP aims to support African countries develop No/low regrets Water Security and Climate Resilience Investment Strategies, Plans and projects, and promote the integration of water security and climate resilience into national development plans.

In April 2010, GWP Chile became an accredited Country Water Partnership.

Representatives from government ministries, NGOs and community-based organisations convened on February 15^th, 2012, for the 8^th Integrated Water Resources Management Stakeholder Meeting put on by the Water and Sewerage Authority and the Water Resources Agency of Trinidad and Tobago.
