A kick-off meeting of the Visegrad Fund project officially unveiled the new Community of Practice Platform, focusing on Armenian drought.

Water managers often claim that more funding needs to be invested in water security. While that is undoubtedly true, it is also true that water managers could do better in terms of spending the budgets that are already allocated to them.

The Southern African Development Community (SADC) convened a workshop to share knowledge on issues involving water, energy, and food (WEF) Nexus, how they affect climate change, and their impacts on communities in Southern Africa.

Malawi has finalised the development of response strategies meant to address major challenges rocking the water and sanitation sector in the country. The strategies were being developed with the guidance of the country’s Ministry of Water and Sanitation, under the Global Water Leadership Programme (GWL) which the Global Water Partnership is implementing with funding from FCDO.

This event showcases various drought management initiatives across Latin America and the Caribbean. It brings together experts, policy makers, and scientists who will share how droughts impact and manifest themselves in their respective countries and localities.

By building on scientific evidence, learning from previous basin experience, and developing tools to support participatory climate-sensitive management, GWP Central and Eastern Europe (CEE), GWP Hungary, and the Government of Hungary laid the foundation for a more inclusive stewardship of cleaner and productive shared waters in the Tisza River Basin, a critical European watershed.

A few weeks after the closing workshop for phase 2 of the TONFUTURTONCLIMAT project in Tanguiéta, the Kaba Hotel in Natitingou hosted the launch workshop for the "Strengthening Climate Resilience and Water Security for Young People and Women for Sustainable Management of the Tchoutchoubou River in the Pendjari sub-basin of Benin" project on Tuesday 30 May 2023.

Taking place on 15-19 November 2021, it will provide a multi-layered program that aims to bridge theoretical knowledge, practical issues and links to policies in Floodplain Management.

On 21 June 2023, the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC), in collaboration with Zambia’s Ministry of Energy, and the Ministry of Agriculture handed over the Katapazi WEF Nexus Demonstration Project to the community. The project is located in Katapazi area of Kazungula District, Southern Province in Zambia.

The first-ever Flood Risk Management Strategy and Action Plan for the Drin Basin aiming to enhance flood preparedness, improve risk management, and foster mutual support across the basin was endorsed by the representatives of the Drin Riparians.
