The Menik Ganga Area Water Partnership (AWP) together with local and temple authorities, local traders and youth groups helped protect water supplies during the one-week Sella Kataragama festival in July.
Media is often a critical link between policymakers and the public. The media focus on environmental issues is increasing, especially in light of the global interest in climate change. This is why GWP regularly organizes awareness-raising workshops for journalists. GWP South America and GWP Caribbean recently organised workshops as a first step to creating journalist networks for knowledge sharing in water resources management.
The GWP Steering Committee Meeting was held 18-21 May 2010 in Beijing.
Four positions on the GWP Steering Committee (SC) will become vacant after the next Steering Committee Meeting in May 2009. Of these two will be selected from the nominees of the GWP regions and two from the self nominated global pool.
