High-Level Round Table Meeting on Climate Change and Water Security in China

With the support of the Ministry of Water Resources and the Ministry of the Environmental Protection, the High-Level Round Table Meeting was jointly organized by GWP China and the Swiss Development Cooperation Agency (SDC) in Beijing, on April 8, 2010. The co-sponsors include The Nature Conservancy, UNESCO Office Beijing, UNICEF Office for China, China Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower Research (IWHR) and Chinese National Committee on Large Dams.

The Workshop on Low-carbon Economy and Rational Use of Water Resources was held jointly by GWP China Hebei and Hebei Senior Scientists Association in Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province on October 11, 2010 with support by GWP China, Hebei Provincial Science and Technology Association, Hebei Provincial Department of Water Resources and Hebei Provincial Power Grid Corporations.

Pilot training in Shu-Talas River Basin in Taras

30 November – 6 December 2009, Almaty and Taras, Republic of Kazakhstan

The training and workshop were an answer to regional and country needs of newly established River Basin Councils. The Centre of Cooperation for Sustainable Development (CCSD) requested GWP to provide assistance in the development of manual: Decision making procedures at River Basin levels and building capacities of River Basin Councils.

Private sector investment issues for water assessed

As part of ongoing national policy dialogues in Egypt and Lebanon within the framework of MED-EUWI and the GEF MedPartnership, GWP Mediterranean and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) assessed issues for governments to consider regarding private sector investment in the water sector.
