H.M. King Letsie III of Lesotho said that it is critical for world leaders to make a concerted effort to secure Africa’s water supply and mitigate all factors that jeopardise water and its sources. H.M. Letsie III was addressing the International High-Level Panel for Water Investments in Africa Event during on World Water Week in Stockholm, Sweden on 30th August.
Building robust and innovative financing and funding mechanisms for water security through an IWRM approach will enable sustainable and more resilient management of our precious water resources. More financing needs to be made available for IWRM approaches and implementation from a variety of sources, including the public and private sectors. The Regional Council (RC) meeting is the annual governance meeting of Global Water Partnership South Asia (GWP SAS) held from 9-10 November 2022 in Negombo, Sri Lanka. The two-day planning and progress review meeting was hosted by the Regional Chair, Ms Kusum Athukorala with the support of the GWP SAS Regional Secretariat. This was the first in-person regional meeting to be held after three years of online meetings.

The 9th session of the Meeting of the Parties (MOP9) to the Convention on the Protection and Use of Transboundary Watercourses and International Lakes is organised by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) in cooperation with the Government of Estonia. The event takes place on 29 September to 1 October, and will be in a hybrid format, in the Palais des Nations/Geneva and virtual.
