Project to support the operationalization of Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) to strengthen resilience to climate change in transboundary basins in West Africa (PAGIREC- AO), this is the title of the funding request whose validation of the detailed request motivated the restricted technical regional workshop organized on December 14 and 15, 2023 in Ouagadougou by the Department of Agriculture, Water Resources and Environment (DAREN) of the WAEMU Commission, in collaboration with the Water Resources Management Centre (CGRE) of the ECOWAS Commission and the Global Water Partnership in West Africa (GWP-WA).
The 2022 network meeting was held earlier compared to the previous session. The meeting was held after the event of Regional Days with a hybrid format. Born in 1934, Dr. Madhav A. Chitale has played a major role in getting India’s decision-makers and strategic planners to think of water as a resource whose quality and availability need to be safeguarded. As a part of the nationwide programmes to develop cover several rivers, Dr Chitale was one of those who originated of the Ganga Action Plan to improve the waters of the holy river. He was also involved in the development of the World Water Council and the Global Water Partnership.
