The 5th edition of the Arab Water Forum is convened by the Arab Water Council on 21-23 September in Dubai, under the patronage of the United Arab Emirates’ Ministry of Energy & Infrastructure and supported by the League of Arab States and the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation of Egypt, in collaboration with national, regional and international partners.
March 22, 2022, UN World Water Development Report 2022 “Groundwater - making the invisible visible” was launched at the opening ceremony of the 9th World Water Forum in Dakar, Senegal. GWP China facilitated the launching of the Executive Summary of the Report in Chinese.
The Global Water Partnership-Caribbean (GWP-C) has promoted rainwater harvesting (RWH) as a viable and cost-effective response to water scarcity for many years.
GWP and Wuhan International Water Law Academy are collaborating on a series of events called the “Transboundary freshwater security governance train”. In six online sessions, key topics on transboundary water cooperation are highlighted, with examples from different locations around the globe. The third session took place on 16 March on the topic, “River Basin Organisations (RBOs) and the Implementation of Treaty Commitments”, with about 140 participants. Experts agree that RBOs play a key role in international water law implementation – this session explained why.
The 12th Petersberg Climate Dialogue (PCD XII) takes place on 6-7 May, bringing together ministers and senior government officials from many countries to discuss climate action ahead of the next UN Climate Change Conference (COP26). In connection to the event, various satellite events - all virtual - take place on 3-6 May. On 4 May, GWP is co-organising a water event together with Alliance for Global Water Adaptation (AGWA) on behalf of the UK and German Governments.
