Global Water Partnership China Yellow River Basin conducted on-site surveys in large-scale irrigation areas in Shaanxi and Gansu provinces of the Yellow River Basin.
GWP held its annual Regional Days meeting on 1-4 June. The virtual event set a record in numbers, with over 120 GWP participants worldwide. While the main purpose is to have a shared understanding of GWP priorities and approaches, one of the highlights this year was the ‘virtual signing’ of a grant agreement between GWP and the Green Climate Fund (GCF) on readiness support to the Zambia National Adaptation Plan (NAP).
On 13 May 2022, the second meeting of the Steering Committee (SC) of the "Water for Growth and Poverty Reduction in the Mekrou sub-basin of Niger" Project (Mekrou Phase 2-Niger Project), financed by the European Union through its Delegation in Niamey, was held in Dosso.
The Mekrou Project Phase 2 Niger has purchased hydrogeological equipment that were offered to the Ministry of Hydraulics and Sanitation for the monitoring of water resources.
On Friday, 30 June 2023, the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) Secretariat handed over a climate-smart agriculture pilot project to Metsimotlhabe Community Trust in Botswana. The project was officially handed over to the community by Mr. Nchidzi Mmolawa, Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Lands and Water Affairs, who was the Guest of Honour at the event.
