200+ women and girls in the Center region of Cameroon have been sensitized and trained on good agroforestry practices in a bid to explore agroforestry as a sustainable means to reinforce climate resilience to reduce the effects of climate change on the vulnerable population.
GWPEA met with H. E. Minister Khadija Mohamed Almakhzoumi, of Somalia’s newly established Ministry of Environment & Climate Change (MoECC) to introduce the 2021 Somalia Green Climate Fund (GCF) Readiness Project to her.
Building on the success of the previous trainings, and growing demand for knowledge and skills relevant to the preparation and financing of transboundary water projects, GWP hosted, with partners, the Pan-Africa Capacity Building Workshop on International Water Law and Water Governance: for improved practices in transboundary water investments in Africa, in Entebbe, Uganda 19-23 September 2022.
GWP Pakistan in collaboration with Tayaba Welfare International Association (TWIA), donated 390 “Help to Others (H2O) Wheels” worth of Pakistan Rupees 2.8 million (around Euro 11,700) to the communities who suffer from a lack of safe water in Punjab and Sindh Provinces in Pakistan - belongs to Cholistan and Tharparkar Deserts.
Kenya Water Partnership coordinated the development of a Catchment-wide Action Plan for the Protection and Conservation of the Ewaso Ng’iro North River Basin. The action planning is part of the pilot project launched by UNEP, GWP and Cap-Net focusing on three target countries (Kenya, Kazakhstan and Argentina)
In March 2023, the Global Water Partnership-Caribbean (GWP-C) will host the 2nd Caribbean Science Symposium on Water. Its main theme will be "Conservation and Innovation: Changing the Regional Water Paradigm".
GWP-Cameroon in collaboration with the Douala Urban City Council organized a two-day multi-stakeholder workshop in Douala on August 5th – 6th, to present the results of the case studies carried out by GWP-Cameroon on plastic waste pollution and its impact on the rivers in Cameroon’s economic capital, Douala.
