GWP focus in Singapore 2016

During the 7th Singapore International Water Week (SIWW) on 10-14 July 2016, GWP is participating in several gatherings to address urban water issues and cement future partnerships. GWP is a Supporting Organization of the SIWW.

GWP representatives will take an active role in parallel sessions organized by the Asia Pacific Water Forum (APWF) and the Asia Water Council. In addition, GWP will co-convene with PUB Singapore (the national water agency) a 2-day PANASIA workshop on Urban Water Management (UWM) in Asia, on July 14-15. It will benefit from the participation of representatives of all four GWP Asia regional offices, as well as representatives from UNESCAP, LEAD, NARBO, APWF, the University of South Florida, the World Bank, and Pub Singapore.

The UWM workshop intends to promote the exchange of experience and knowledge on innovative urban water management approaches in Asia among the four GWP Regional Water Partnerships and key Asian regional organisations. The keynote address will be delivered by Dr. Ravi Narayanan, Chair of the APWF, one of the organisations with which GWP will meet to explore a working partnership.

In the context of GWP’s youth engagement strategy, GWP will participate in the Young Water Leaders Summit which will promote careers in the water industry among young professionals.

GWP is also using the SIWW event as an opportunity to hold its Southeast Asia Steering Committee meeting.
