One of GWP Eastern Africa partner called “Mpan’game club”, a nonprofit-making organization that was named after Mpan’game, a community participatory board game designed along River Mpanga and aimed at community sensitization on natural resources conservation issues.
Through playing of Mpan’game, communities are able to identify activities detrimental to the environment and appreciate the interconnectedness of the ecosystems.
From 4-22 December 2017, GWP Eastern Africa in collaboration with the Ministry of Water and Irrigation, the Water and Land Resource(WLRC) and the Ethiopian Water Partnership organized a workshop on Integrated Water Resources, Principles and Practices.
In the same effort of promoting IWRM in the region, GWPEA supported another training workshop in Sudan from 23-25 December 2017.
The country process in Ethiopia was coordinated by Water and Land Resource Centre (WLRC) of Addis Ababa University (AAU) and the Ministry of Water, Irrigation and Electricity (MoWIE). A facilitated workshop was held on 26 September 2017, at Beshale Hotel in Addis Ababa, to develop the national response. The workshop was attended by 23 participants that provided a strong representation of all major water sector actors and stakeholders.
