In a special bulletin dated March 2019, the AGRHYMET Regional Centre of the Interstate Committee for Drought Control in the Sahel (CILSS) announces trends in rainfall for the season in the Gulf of Guinea countries.

The UNFCCC climate talks - the 24th Conference of the Parties and 14th Session of the Meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol - more commonly known as COP24, is held in Katowice, Poland, on 2-14 December. GWP is present and involved in a number of events.

Phase I also aims at identifying concrete investment projects - with a focus on multi-purpose water infrastructure - which could be funded under Phase II. The SADC WEF Nexus Dialogue Project is a strategic fit in the implementation of SADC's Regional water, energy, food policies, strategies and action plans. It will also contribute in implementing SADC's Roadmap and Strategy for Industrialisation. The project is expected to promote better interaction and synergies between the water, food, and energy sectors in order to unlock and optimize development potential of the region for economic growth and transformation.

The 7^th SADC Multi Stakeholder Water Dialogue, a biennial activity which provides a platform for regional stakeholders to discuss and share experiences on different aspects of Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) will this year be held from the 29^th to the 30^th of September in Windhoek, Namibia. Running under the theme “Watering Development in SADC: The central role of water in driving industrialization” this year's Water Dialogue will focus on unpacking the role that water will play in driving industrialisation in the region. In line with the GWP strategic thematic area on urbanisation, GWP is collaborating with AfDB – Africa Water Facility and Partners to support the region and countries in Africa to address challenges related to water management in urban areas in cities in Africa. In view of this, a capacity building workshop on IUWM was held from 25^th to 28^th January in Abidjan, Ivory Coast aimed at contributing to the well-being of the urban population of Africa by improving water and wastewater services through the implementation of an integrated approach.

The 24th Session of the Conference of Parties (COP24), hosted by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) secretariat, is taking place in from the 2nd to the 14th December 2018, Katowice, Poland.
