The Country Water Partnership of Burkina Faso (CWP Burkina) has supported the establishment of the Local Water Committee of the Massili (CLE- Massili ) to help in a shared vision for the management of resource water in this sub basin of the Nakanbé River. This action was made possible as part of the collaboration with the Nakanbé Water Agency (AEN).
The Costa Rican government decided to revise its system of water use levy when it became evident that it was disproportionately low. Action was taken by key stakeholders to reconstruct a design of the water use levy to reflect two basic elements of water charge: water use rights and environmental water services. From this experience, the most important lesson is that political will must support legal and technical works when reforming economic instruments.
Investments for water security and climate resilient development can benefit from combining different funding sources. Matching climate finance with traditional water finance from Official Development Assistance (ODA) and private sector is a good strategy. The Water, Climate and Development Programme in Southeast Asia aims to integrate water security and climate resilience in development planning processes, and support countries within Southeast Asian region to adapt to a new climate regime through increased investments in water security.
Over thirty (30) regional organisations working in the areas of water and wastewater in the Caribbean, will meet in Barbados on April 28th and 29th, 2014 at the Courtyard Marriott Hotel, to critically explore ways of strengthening their collaboration to improve water security in the region.
The Roundtable on Flood Control and Adapting Measures for Economic Development in Flood Plain for Lower Reaches of Yellow River was held on October 23, 2014, in Zhengzhou, Henan Province. The event was organized by GWP China Yellow River and Yellow River Research Association with the support by GWP China. Over 50 participants from Yellow River Conservancy Commission (YRCC), research institutions, Henan and Ningxia Provincial Flood Control and Drought Relief Offices, universities attended the roundtable. Mr. Zheng Rugang, Secretary General and Coordinator of GWP China Region, gave a welcome speech.
