The reputation of the Halda River in Chittagong District as the most important breeding ground for carp fry in Bangladesh has been largely restored through interventions by the Halda River Area Water Partnership.
Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, is a city that faces a number of environmental challenges such as urban and river flooding, water logging, earthquakes, fire hazards, traffic congestion and various anthropogenic problems.
The Danube region is characterised by long-term cooperation. One of the most important agreements is the Danube River Protection Convention, aiming to achieve sustainable and equitable water management. To achieve this, the Danubian countries have taken appropriate legal, administrative and technical measures to at least maintain and improve the ecological and water quality conditions. The main lesson learnt is that strong cooperation among all the involved parties is required.

It is in these terms that the Secretary General of the Ministry of Water, Water Facilities and Sanitation of Burkina Faso, Mr. Ali TRAORÉ, spoke at the official launch of the project. He expressed himself on behalf of the Honourable Minister and noted the importance of the new project on March 18, 2014 in Ouagadougou.
The Regional Workshop on South-South Cooperation in Flood Management will be jointly organized by GWP China and GWPO, on 14-16 December 2015, in Guangdong, China.
