Theory to Implementation in Water and Climate Series

A 3-part webinar series took place in February and March to highlight and clarify linkages between water and climate in national climate action plans, such as the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), the National Adaptation Plans (NAPs), and various investment mechanisms. “For me, the stories from countries were the best part. I think they speak to all of us and tell us what it's really like to change theory into implementation on the ground,” said Dani Gaillard-Picher, GWP Global Coordinator for Water and Climate Processes, in her summary of the series.

World Food Day

World Food Day is celebrated annually around 16 October. The 2020 edition is calling for global solidarity to help all populations, and especially the most vulnerable, to recover from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, and to make food systems more resilient and robust so they can withstand increasing volatility and climate shocks, deliver affordable and sustainable healthy diets for all, and decent livelihoods for food system workers.

Coming together for sustainable development in the Drin River Basin; Five key lessons from Southeastern Europe for successful transboundary cooperation

Covering a geographical area of 20,361 km2 connecting 5 countries and 5 water bodies, the Drin Basin in Southeast Europe sustains unique ecosystems and endemic biodiversity, while supporting the economic activity of over 1.6 million people who call it home. However, four transboundary problems - deterioration of water quality, variability of hydrological regime, biodiversity degradation and disturbance of the natural sediment transport regime - are threatening the basin’s health with a direct impact on both the environment and livelihoods.

Central African Youths en route to the 9th World Water Forum

In preparation for the 9th World Water Forum to be held in Dakar in 2022, the Network of Water and Climate Organizations of Central African Youth (RECOJAC) organized a regional workshop on September 24th, 2021 within the framework of its Dakar 2022 youth mobilization project, Central African Youths Towards Dakar 2022 (CAY-TDAKAR2022), funded by UNESCO and supported by GWPO and GWP-CAf.
