On World Wetlands Day 2022, GWP-Med presents the stories of farmers and young entrepreneurs who live close to Ghar El Melh, one of Tunisia’s most precious wetlands. How and why did they decide to act to save this natural treasure? Was their effort worth it?

During an online workshop covering the issues of Gender in natural resources management in the Drin River basin, participants agreed that sustainable development and gender equality areinseperable. However, it was acknowledged that water management and the nexus water-food-energy-ecosystems remain largely a masculine domain. It was finally agreed that for a meaningful analysis and gender-sensitive policy making, institutions and a statistical system that provide gender disaggregated data are needed.

The Regional Forum on the theme: "Capitalization and scaling up of IWRM best practices for water security and population resilience in the WAEMU Space" took place from November 28 to 30, 2023 in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.

It is a global conference that promises to accelerate, innovate, and scale up the world’s efforts in adapting to the inevitable effects of climate change. World Rivers Day is an annually recurring occasion to highlight the many values of rivers and to increase public awareness and encourage improved stewardship of rivers around the world. This year, we commemorate the day by drawing attention to the importance of cooperating over shared rivers.

The non-profit organisation has been a GWP Partner since 2013 - their motivation to join the GWP network was a wish to participate in the processes around Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM).
