The 15th Steering Committee meeting of the Regional Water Partnership for Central Africa (GWP-CAf) held from 3rd -4th November 2021 followed by the 7th General Assembly on November 5th, 2021, in Douala.
Co-organized by GWP and the United Nations University Institute on Comparative Regional Integration Studies (UNU CRIS), an online session was held on 15 June 2022 about multilevel governance (MLG) in the context of transboundary waters.
The Lake Chad Basin Commission (LCBC) in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Chad and GWP-Central Africa (GWP-CAf) organized a three-day regional capacity-building workshop for Non-Governmental and Civil Society Organizations, to enable them to sensitize the communities within the Lake Chad Basin area on environmental awareness.
The workshop which brought together representatives of five pre-selected NGOs and CSOs, from the five member states (Cameroon, Chad, Nigeria, Niger, Central African Republic) of the LCBC was held in Douala, Cameroon on June 28th – 30th 2022.
The International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction takes place on 13 October. It is an opportunity to acknowledge the progress being made toward reducing disaster risk and losses in lives, livelihoods and health. The 2021 edition will focus on “International cooperation for developing countries to reduce their disaster risk and disaster losses”.
Registration for the Second Pan-African Stakeholder Consultation on the AIP Water Investment Scorecard, scheduled to take place virtually on 16 September 2021, is now open for all representatives of African government departments related to water, development and multilateral organisations, civil society, technical experts, river basin organisations and the media.
The Global Water Partnership-Caribbean (GWP-C) in collaboration with the Global Environment Facility-funded (GEF) CReW+ and the United Nations Environment Programme Caribbean Environment Programme (CEP) and Cartagena Convention Secretariat, will soon be hosting Integrated Water and Wastewater Management (IWWM) Workshops.
A four-member delegation of the Mono Basin Authority (MBA) had a working visit to the GWP-WA Regional Secretariat on March 17, 2021 including the Executive Director, Mr. Nicolas Dadja GNAKPAOU, the Deputy Director, Mr. Razaki SANOUSSI, the two country Focal Points, Mr. Phillipe Armand ADJOMAYI and Mr. Wohou AKAKPO respectively for Benin and Togo.
The first Water-Energy-Food (WEF) Nexus Masterclass designed specifically for Southern Africa took place 27-29 July 2021, with support from Global Water Partnership Southern Africa (GWPSA).
