GWP-WA is progressing on PREE/IUCN activities implementation

During the last months the Executive Secretariat coordinated the field missions carried out by the consultants of the AGRISTUDIO/ID SAHEL consortium in 4 Fouta Djalon countries from November 16 to December 04, 2021. The consultants’ firm had submitted their start-up report of the mission on the realization of a prospective diagnosis of the Fouta Djallon massif with the analysis of the opportunities and the proposal of the options/priorities of restoration of the degraded ecosystems of the Massif. This report was validated after some amendments by GWP-WA.

Exploring the Rules of Transboundary Infrastructure

On 18 May, the event series “Transboundary freshwater security governance train” continued with a session on “International Water Law and Infrastructure.” Over 100 participants took part in the event, which was co-organised by GWP and the International Water Law Academy (IWLA) of Wuhan University. The question at the heart of the discussion was: what are the rules of international law that govern transboundary infrastructure development?

Mekrou Project 2 Niger looks at an integrated approach for pilot actions

The Project management team of the project organized two workshops in Falmey (Dosso) and Tillaberi from 18 to 21 October, 2022 for the elaboration of the action plan for the integrated management of water resources and other related resources of the pilot sites of the Mekrou Phase 2 Niger Project in the Mekrou sub-basin in Niger.

The Role of Youth in Transforming Food Systems

August 12 marks International Youth Day, and the 2021 edition has the theme, “Transforming Food Systems: Youth Innovation for Human and Planetary Health.” We spoke with youth in West and Southern Africa about their involvement in GWP activities around water and food. What are the challenges and how can youth contribute to securing the water-food chain?
